Haverhill ‘Buy Local’ campaign is up and running
A campaign has been launched to encourage people to shop in Haverhill and help the local economy to thrive.
The Buy Local campaign began on Monday (1) and ends on June 14 and is being run by thebestof Haverhill, the marketing company dedicated to championing everything that’s good in the area.
The core element of the Buy Local campaign, now in its third year, is to encourage local people to think about where they spend their money.
Research on spending by local authorities shows that for every £1 spent with a small or medium-sized business 63p stayed in the local economy, compared to 40p with a larger business.
Local businesses need the support of residents and changing how and where we shop can make a huge difference to the local economy.
Elaine Carr, owner of thebestof Haverhill said: “We love being part of the community here in Haverhill and pride ourselves on doing our bit to promote and support the great local independent businesses offering the best services and products.
“The Buy Local campaign reminds us how vitally important it is that we use local shops and suppliers otherwise we will sadly lose them.”
This year local businesses in Haverhill will be using Social Media and the popular “selfie” trend to drive awareness and encourage people to Buy Local. Cash prizes of £100 can we won by pledging your support or having a buy local selfie taken with your favourite local business.
There are also some amazing Buy Local special offers available throughout the 14 days.
Local people who visit www.thebestof.co.uk/haverhill to pledge their support during Buy Local week will be entered into a prize draw. Lucky supporters will win £100 to spend with a bestof local business.
Look out for the Buy Local stickers, flyers, balloons and pledge forms over the next two weeks and come and talk to thebestof Haverhill and some of their business members on their stall on the market on Saturday (June 6).
Business owners wishing to display a Buy Local sticker or who want to get more involved, should contact Elaine Carr via the website www.thebestof.co.uk/haverhill or call 01440 710158.
