The recent vote for the UK to leave the EU and the concerns voiced by many on its potential impact has prompted St Mary’s Church in Haverhill to open on Monday evening (July 4) between 6pm and 9pm for prayer and reflection.

Benefice Missioner, Captain Andrew Payne, says the move is not about taking political sides but just offering a place for spiritual prayer and reflection for anyone of any faith or of no faith.

He added: “We’re all concerned for the future and this will be a time for prayer and reflection.

“No debates, no finger pointing, no discussions and no sides being taken by anyone. Just a time to bring concerns and bring a spirituality to those concerns.

“Even if it’s only a few of us we feel this is important at this time.”
