For the first time ever in its 46 year history, Haverhill’s Centre Stage Company is to lay on an extra performance of its pantomime after a complete sell-out of all its scheduled shows.
The 200 seats for all nine performances of Peter Pan, which begin tomorrow (Friday) night at Haverhill Arts Centre, have been snapped up and with 200 people on a waiting list the company has put on the extra show at 7pm on Wednesday, January 28.
Centre Stage Company chairman, Jim Morgan said: “Never in our 46 years has this happened.
“We crossed last year’s number (of sold tickets) three weeks ago so It was doing better than it was last year three weeks ago.”
Sales have been boosted by the use of social media. Centre Stage’s Facebook page now has 8,000 likes and videos filmed at rehearsals have had about 5,000 individual hits.
Mr Morgan said: “We are doing a great job. It’s hard work but we have got dedicated people who doa great deal and people are supportive of us.
“It’s the panto that makes us the money that allows us to the other things that we do.”
The support of local sponsors was also thanked by Mr Morgan, who said: “Again brilliant support from IFF who buy two performances and give the tickets to local schools in and around Haverhill.
“In the 11 years of support in excess of 1,000 families come to live theatre, many of whom had never done this, but many who have done it since as a family.
“We are extremely grateful for their continued support.”
Tickets for the additional show are £8 on the raked seats and £5.95 on the flat seats.
