PRESSURE BUILDING UP FOR EARLY START ON BYPASS
Pressure for an early start on Haverhill bypass and its speedy completion was to be stepped up by St Edmundsbury Council.
The council said the scheme had a vital bearing on the economic development of the Haverhill area.
Council leader John Knight said the bypass was one of the priority items he was going to raise later in the month with his counterpart on Suffolk County Council, Chris Penn.
CYCLISTS CAMPSITE SET FOR APPROVAL
A cyclists’ tourist centre and campsite proposed at Wickhambrook was recommended for approval by St Edmundsbury councillors at a meeting of the planning committee.
Withams Farm Trust had submitted the scheme to convert and extend two barns to form a cyclists’ touring centre with ancillary office and stores and the use of adjoining land for camping, although it would not be a general campsite.
The farm operated on organic principles and would continue to be an educational resource for traditional farming.
