EXTRA HELP FOR CHAIR-BOUND DANNY

Two friends of a Haverhill teen left paralysed from the chest down after a moped accident signed up to a sponsored parachute jump to help raise money to buy him a special lightweight wheelchair.

Jason Letton and Lee Martin, both 17, aimed to raise the £1,500 needed to provide their friend Danny McIntosh, also 17, with the new wheelchair.

Jason’s mum, Winifred and his sister, Dawn Wagner, were also helping by organising a disco and raffle to further boost their fund-raising efforts.

GOLFERS PIN HOPES ON CASH LIFELINE

Haverhill golfers were being asked to give a cash lifeline to their club to safeguard a land deal vital to the proposed development of an extra nine holes.

If members failed to buy a minimum 100 £1 shares the money would have to come from a private source - which could result in a bug jump in membership fees.

The club needed £200,000 to buy the land required to turn the course from nine to 18 holes.
