Haverhill Lions Club has said a special thank you to the couple who made Santa’s Grotto possible last year.

The club invited Robert and Samantha Mason, the owners of Sturmer Nurseries Garden Centre, to its 34th Charter Dinner to thank them for allowing the Lions to put a Santa’s grotto into their nursery on the three weekends before Christmas.

Phil Cheesmur, right, president of Haverhill Lions Club, presented a Lions certificate of appreciation to Robert.

Phil said: “We have been able to bring smiles to almost 500 local children’s faces and raised over £2,000 for local charities, so we are very grateful to Robert and Samantha.”

Robert said: “It was a pleasure to host the Lions and we look forward to having them back again next Christmas. The Lions do great work and it is nice to be able to help them.”

The club has raised more than £125,000 in 34 years.
