Haverhill employer 'opens up' to the public
Culina Logistics in Haverhill held on open day on June 30 to show how the largest temperature controlled food and drink logistics provider in the UK operates.
All visitors were treated to refreshments and received a complimentary ‘goody bag’ on arrival. There were even balloons for the children.
The informal, family-friendly event gathered a lot of local interest and received more visitors than expected which the Culina Logistics team were very pleased about.
"Being one of the largest employers in the town we thought it was important to hold an open day to show what it is exactly we do and how we do it.
"The local residents no doubt see our vehicles operating in the area and now they know what’s in them.’’, said Amit Mistry, Culina Logistics HR Business Partner.
Guided tours of the 191,000 sq.ft. chilled warehouse were available and staff were on hand to discuss their roles within the business and describe what it is like to work for the company on a day to day basis.
With over 100 positions available at the site from warehouse operatives and HGV drivers to office staff there was plenty of roles available for potential applicants.
While tours were going on inside, visitors outside were shown around the site’s modern fleet of vehicles.
Culina Logistics are charity partners with Cancer Research UK and had a stall collecting donations with pictures of events that the staff had taken part in to raise funds.
One of these events was two female members of staff who shaved their heads and raised over £1,300 for the charity.
Tony Quinn, general manager of the Haverhill site said: “A truly fantastic day where the Culina Logistics team opened our doors and showcased to the local community what we do and the career opportunities we have available.
"I was very impressed by the interest shown and feedback received from those who attended what I hope was both an informative and engaging day for all.
"Our colleagues do make a difference and I look forward to welcoming new members to the team and supporting their career aspirations.”
