Haverhill man charged with sex attack

A 25-year old Haverhill man accused of a sex attack on a 17-year-old girl faces a Crown Court trial.

The incident is alleged to have taken place during an event held at Writtle College, Chelmsford, last September,

Elliott John Barry, of 3 Woolnough Close, Steeple Bumpstead, Haverhill, Suffolk, allegedlt assaulted the 17 year old.

He was remanded on conditional bail for a plea and case management hearing on scheduled for August 10 at Chelmsford Crown Court.

He was ordered by Chelmsford Magistrates Court not to contact the alleged victim and not to enter Writtle College, where he is still officially a student.

Barry is accused of sexually assaulting the girl between September 15 and September 18 last year by intentionally touching and attempting to rape her.

Prosecutor Grace Court, applying for conditional bail, outlined the allegations Barry.

She said they involved several attempts to kiss the girl being made before the alleged offences being committed in student accommodation.
