A Haverhill electrician went under hypnosis as part of a television game show.

Sean Linnane, 28, took part in an episode of You’re Back in the Room, a show, hosted by Phillip Schofield, in which contestants undergo a series of tasks to win prizes.

The challenges are made even more difficult when hypnotist, Keith Barry, puts the contestants under hypnosis and manipulates their behaviour.

“Hypnotism always seems so bizarre,” said Sean. “The whole experience was very strange.

“It affects people in different ways. You don’t really realize what’s going on or what you’re doing.

“When you watch it back later and see everything, it’s so weird. The whole thing seems like a dream.”

Sean responded to an advert for the show he saw on Twitter and, after a selection stage to see how susceptible to hypnosis he was, was chosen for the show.

“I’ve been hypnotised before on holiday,” said Sean. “Before that, I hadn’t believed it could be done. I thought I’d see if it worked again.

“It opens up a side of you that might not come out otherwise. You lose your inhibitions.”

Phillip Schofield said: “The contestants are undoubtedly the stars of the show. Their reactions are bizarre, hilarious, completely unpredictable and always thoroughly entertaining.”

The episode will be shown on Saturday, April 4, at 8.30pm.
