Haverhill man who died in Saturday’s A143 crash named

A 56-year-old man who died following a collision on the A143 on Saturday has been named as Robert Grocott of Hudson Close in Haverhill.

Police were called by the ambulance service just after 6pm on Saturday 7 May to reports of a collision between a Land Rover and a van on the A143 Haverhill Road in Little Wratting.

Emergency services attended but Mr Grocott, who was driving the Land Rover Freelander, died at the scene. Two other men in the car sustained injuries, with both taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

Two men in the Vauxhall Vivaro van sustained serious injuries and were also taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. All four of those injured remain in a serious condition.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101, quoting CAD 362 of May 7.
