A Haverhill Rovers striker has teamed up with three of his friends to breathe new life into a gym and fitness club in Linton.

Mark Lovell opened Linton Fitness, previously Triple J Fitness, in Hadstock Road, on Monday, after taking over from his friend Joe George, who is moving to Australia.

He is taking on the venture with personal trainers Callum Slater and Ross Hanrahan, with Joe also holding a stake in the business.

“I’m lucky to be able to do this with three of my really good mates who all have similar interests and ideas,” said Mark, who joined the Rovers in the summer.

“I know that Callum and Ross are really great trainers and will turn the gym into something great and Joe has been very helpful in the whole process so it’s been quite nice for everyone.”

Mark hopes that Linton Fitness will be more than just a weight-lifting gym and has plans to run footballing events, fitness classes and charity fund-raisers.

“We want it to be for the full community. We’ve sought advice from our oldest members to the youngest to see what people wanted out of the gym and how we can make it better,” he said.

“There will be different events and chances to try new things. We want it to have a ‘something for everyone’ feel.”
