Haverhill schoolgirl’s haircut proves very profitable for charity
Lauren Hemmings went under the stylist’s scissors to raise more than £700 for a charity that helps children who have had treatment for cancer.
The 11-year-old, who lives in Connaught Road, Haverhill and attends Castle Manor Academy, had 14 inches of her hair removed to raise the money for the Little Princess Trust.
Lauren had her hair cut and styled on Saturday (2) at Matilda Rose Nails and Beauty, in Withersfield Road, Haverhill by Sonia Humphrey, owner of Sonia’s Hair and Beauty.
The owner of Matilda Rose, Jamie Nunn, invited Lauren to have her hair cut there because he is friends with her mum, Marilyn Martin, and he asked Sonia along to do the cutting and styling.
Jamie also sold tickets for a raffle and collected donations at his business, while Lauren went out on the day of the hair cut to make a bucket collection for the charity.
