Haverhill’s Lauren Chinery stepped into the limelight for a recent duet with megastar Russell Watson at his Sturmer Hall gig. Stephanie Mack was in the audience:
Let me tell you upfront I simply love Russell Watson and I admit it. I ‘ve travelled miles upon miles up and down these islands of ours to see Russell perform and I have done so in some of Britain’s most iconic venues, but truly Sunday, December 21 at Sturmer Hall really was something very special.
My second row VIP ticket was a birthday present from my brother and frankly this very special Christmas show, on my doorstep, really was magnificent.
Kicked off as it was by ‘The Voice Squad’ a very young, but nevertheless very accomplished choir from nearby Bury St Edmunds the sound , the theatre, the lighting, nothing at all could be faulted .
Russell hit the stage second half and seamlessly began to work with the kids, creating a concert to die for.
Singing lots of our favourites songs and some Christmas carols Russell really excelled as I knew he would.
A young and no doubt upcoming star of the future called Lauren Chinery (from Haverhill) actually gave me goose pimples when she sang a word perfect duet with Russell, she faltered not one bit and the chemistry was clear to see.
The finale was of course sensational, the applause spontaneous and the standing ovation deserved of everyone who took part.
