A group of kind-hearted year eight Samuel Ward Academy students made a special festive visit to Eastcotts Nursing Home in Calford Green.

Having watched the ‘Man on the Moon’ John Lewis advert on TV and discussed its meaning in their meeting time, the students were keen to do something for the residents of Eastcotts.

They wrapped up and delivered gifts, accompanied by form tutors Helen Wilkinson and Michael Inkson and while there they sang two Christmas songs.

Angel Ibayan, the home’s manager, said: “The widening of the eyes and joy on their faces when they received presents from the students was so beautiful to see.

“They even brought tears of joy from our residents.”

Our residents from Eastcotts were so delighted to see the school children that they are still talking about them long after they were gone.”
