SEVERE weather warnings were given and massive storms forecast, but the heavens didn’t open on Haverhill’s second Summer Bash.

The torrential rain only arrived once the two-day show was over, much to the relief of the organisers.

Chairman David Doughty said: “We were so lucky that we escaped the storms which were expected.

“The threat of bad weather may have kept a few people away, but attendance was good over the two days.

“I have been overwhelmed by the wonderful support from local businesses and individuals who donated, sponsored or helped out and volunteered.

“The committee couldn’t have put on the show without them.”

This year the bash featured sport, music and a family day.

And this year featured an extended dog show.

People who collected money for charity are busy counting the proceeds and the total sum for charities is due to be announced in about two weeks time.

Charities to benefit include LAMPH, St Nicholas Hospice Care in Haverhill, the Cubs, Scots and Guides and REACH Community Projects.
