A ten-year-old who set out to raise £50 for charity by cutting off her long hair has already netted more than £750, with more money to come.

Lauren Shores, of Strawberry Fields, Haverhill, a pupil at Burton End Primary Academy, will have her hair cut off on July 4 for The Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children that have lost their hair because of treatment for cancer.

Her mum Tracy said: “She has researched it all, received her pack and explained to us on many occasions that her hair will grow back but there are such poorly children in hospital who don’t have that chance, not to mention the fact that most wigs cost approximately £350 each, to make!

“Lauren is such a thoughtful and kind little girl.”
