Haverhill woman confronts two burglars in her home

Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman confronted two men who entered and burgled her Mill Road home at around 9.30pm on Friday (January 4).

The 74-year-old woman was disturbed by two men in her bedroom.

One of them grabbed her by her arm and demanded to know where she kept her money.

The second man then searched her bedroom.

The lady managed to pull her emergency cord to get help.

It is thought the two men made off the same way they entered the home, through an unlocked window.

They left with a purse containing a small amount of cash.

The lady has been left quite shaken by the incident and police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and saw two men acting suspiciously.

The first man was white around six ft tall, and wore dark clothing.

The second was white, shorter at around five ft eight in, and of stocky build.

He wore a flat cap and also dark clothing.

If you were in the area and noticed any suspicious activity or recognise the men call DC Mike Blayney at Bury St Edmunds CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
