Haverhill Town Councillors publicly thanked one of the town’s police officers for his work in the community after learning he had moved to a new post on secondment.

Cllr Maureen Byrne and Cllr Roger André praised Pc Will Wright for his efforts on behalf of the town during the full town council meeting on Tuesday.

Cllr Byrne said: “He has chosen a secondment so he is not going to be around for at least 12 months.

“I think he has done a lot of work in the town. He’s been an easy guy to get on with and I think we should send our best wishes to him as a town council.”

Cllr André later told PCSO Sophie Mitchell, who attended the meeting: “We are all deeply sorry that we are going to lose Will Wright from your team. We are very grateful for the work he has done.”
