Highways issues raised with County Council

At a meeting with Suffolk County Council leader, Mark Bee, on January 20, councillors raised the topic of the council’s road maintenance work in the town.

“We were unhappy with the service provided by the county council,” said Cllr Tony Brown.

“There’s a backlog of work. There’s a lack of communication. I think it has been caused by the council changing contractors.”

Long delays in the re-surfacing of Mill Road were of particular concerns, as was a planned crossing near Sainsburys on Haycocks Road.

“We had wanted it done back before it started getting dark in the evenings,” said Cllr Brown. “We still don’t know when it will be completed. It was a positive meeting and it was good of Mark Bee to join us. We’re hoping to see improvements.”
