Grade-II listed hotel in Clare is put up for sale and under temporary management by Greene King

The Bell Hotel in Clare is open and trading under interim management following a brief closure but owner Greene King have put it up for sale.

A Greene King spokesperson thanked previous tenants Daniel Esplen and Zainab Khan for their hard work during their 14 months in charge before adding that Steve Smith had agreed to take on the pub on a short-term agreement.

Daniel and Zainab took over the running of the Grade-II listed Greene King hotel on July 31, 2018.

It was then closed for three weeks to allow the owner to carry out a complete refurbishment of the bar and restaurant area, with a further refurbishment of the accommodation area planned for 2019.

It was only in May that Daniel and Zainab were celebrating receiving an award for the hotel's restaurant, which you can read about HERE

Greene King did not comment on the reason for the couple's departure.

The spokesperson added: "We have also been considering The Bell’s long-term future and have reached the difficult decision to market it for sale as we look to find someone to run the business for the long term."

Steve and his team will continue running The Bell for the immediate future and we wish them all the best on their new venture.”
