The event was inspired by an open letter sent by the House of Bishops of the Church of England inviting Church members to ‘engage’ in the political process.

The hustings has been organised by St Mary’s member Daniel Summers, who said: “We thought the best way for us to get involved was to organise a hustings in the church and give not just our congregation but the whole community the chance to meet them and put their questions to them.”

Confirmed attendees are Niall Pettitt (Green Party), Matthew Hancock (Conservative) Julian Flood (UKIP) and Michael Jefferys (Labour).

Elfreda Tealby-Watson (Lib Dems) has not yet confirmed her attendance.
