A local mother and businesswoman has published a children’s book aimed at tackling what she calls the rising epidemic of child sickness and obesity.

Linton mother-of-two and family wellness centre owner, Jo Groenhart has recently published her first book, “Oscar Ocean and the Big Stretch”.

It is aimed at preschool children aged 1-4, to get them thinking about the importance of posture and stretching regularly as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Jo noticed on observing infants that they naturally stretch all the time, said: “When you see babies learning to crawl, stand and walk, you notice them stretching: it’s in their programming.

“However as we grow older we lose this good habit.

“As education is vital in the early years, it makes sense to encourage this good habit and educate our children further.”

Jo recently moved to Linton, with her husband Ed, two sons, Isaac and Oakley, and dog, Izzy.

Managing their busy family wellness centre and seeing her own client base has given them an ability to help families create their own wellness lifestyle.

More books are planned to follow in the Oscar Ocean series. Follow the progress of the rest of Oscar’s journey at www.facebook.com/jo.groenhart and at the Kindle Store (search for Josephine Groenhart).
