A £500 cheque from Haverhill Lions Club means the town’s Community Wellbeing Fund can order its ultrasound equipment.

The club presented the cheque to Haverhill Mayor Betty McLatchy towards ultrasound equipment for use by GPs in Haverhill and surrounding villages.
The money was raised at the club’s Santa’s Grotto at Sturmer Nurseries and Garden Centre.

Cllr McLatchy said: “The presentation of this generous amount of funding is enabling me to place the order for this equipment in just eight weeks time and I am very grateful to all who worked so hard to raise this money.”

Phil Cheesmur, club president, said: “We are very pleased to be able to help the Mayor by bringing the fund closer to its initial target of £19,200 and wish her well in her continuing fund raising to cover the maintenance of the equipment.”
