Local club raises £500 for hospice

A cheque worth £500 from Haverhill Lions Club has been presented to the town’s branch of St Nicholas Hospice.

The money was raised at the club’s Santa’s Grotto, which was held at Sturmer Nurseries and Garden Centre.

George Chilvers, who is the community fund-raiser for the hospice, said: “We are extremely grateful for the support from Haverhill Lions Club.

“Their donation allows us to continue to provide the help to those in need and their families.”

Meanwhile, Lions Club president Phil Cheesmur added: “We are very pleased to be able to help support St Nicholas Hospice in the excellent work they do in supporting local people through difficult times.”
