The new Leiston Community Soup-a-Lunch club for older people has been launched by Mayor of Haverhill Roger André.
Guests enjoyed a bowl of soup, a roll and a dessert for just £3 plus a chance to meet and make new friends.
The next lunch will be held on May 12. There will be no need to book and guests are encouraged to just turn up.
The Soup-a-Lunch was developed through hard work by volunteers led by Joan Key, and with the support of Gavin Hodge, Community Involvement andLiaison Officer for Age UK Suffolk. A grant of £250 from borough councillor Paul McManus enabled the club to get under way.
