A 22 year old man was assaulted in broad daylight as he sat outside Haverhill library.

The man had been sitting outside the library in Haverhill’s Camps Road when, in an apparently unprovoked attack, he was punched in the face.

The incident took place at about 12.20pm on Tuesday, February 3.

The victim sustained swelling to the right side of his face, as well as a chipped tooth.

Police have obtained CCTV footage of the incident but have not yet released a description of any suspects.

Because of the public nature of the attack and the time of day it took place, police are sure there must have been witnesses and are appealing for more information from the public.

They are keen to talk to anyone who may know more about the circumstances of the incident or those involved in the assault.

Anyone with information that may be helpful to the police should contact Haverhill police on 101.

Alternatively, members of the public can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
