An elderly man who was mugged for his pension has been presented with £275 that was raised by donations from members of the community.

John Clarke, 81, (pictured second from left) had £120 snatched from his hands while he was standing outside the post office in Haverhill’s High Street on June 22. After hearing about the incident, Local woman, Sky Jordan (pictured left), set about organising a fund-raising effort to replace the stolen funds. Members of the public like David Doughty (right) pitched in and, before long, the funds raised exceeded even the amount stolen in the first place. Police are still appealing to find the person who took the money. Anyone with information should call Haverhill police on 101.
