Haverhill market trader to resume business tomorrow

Days after being told that it had to close for the foreseeable future, Haverhill market will be open tomorrow and Friday, albeit with only one stallholder operating.

West Suffolk Council took the decision to close all of the markets it manages as of Tuesday, including in Haverhill.

However, Paul Firman Fruit & Veg has made arrangements to run a reduced stall and a click and collect service, with orders placed through his Facebook page, tomorrow and Saturday.

The stall will be operating on the piece of land between the rear of Barclays Bank on the High Street and Jubilee Walk car park.

The land has been made available for Mr Firman to use by its owner, Glenn Edwards, who is the proprietor of Chippy's take away in Haverhill.

Mr Firman said that because he is trading on private land, West Suffolk Council cannot prevent him from doing so.
