Holiday experience kick-started Haverhill slimmer's impressive weight loss
The moment where she was physically unable to climb on to a favourite fairground ride was the ‘turning point’ for a slimmer who has gone on to lose one third of her body weight.
Natalie Pilmer, of Lundy Close, in Haverhillcelebrated the end of 2019 as being one of the most successful members of her Slimming World group in Clare.
Having started out in the group with a weight of 17st 9.5lbs, the 35-year-old mum-of-two has shed 6st 7lbs.
She is also now a regular runner, having clocked up three 10km runs since last April with the Cambridge Half Marathon in March now on her radar.
Natalie explained how her weight-loss journey began, saying: “Back when I first started I couldn’t even bend over to tie up my shoe laces to put a pair of trainers on, let alone run.
“It was getting to the point that I knew I had to do something about it and you kind of put it off and put it off.”
Being overweight was affecting her daily life and things came to a head when she went to the seaside with her family and tried to ride on a carousel horse.
Natalie said: “I love carousels but I couldn’t get on the horse.
“I just couldn’t do it. My body was not strong enough and that was the turning point.
“Enough was enough for me and that’s when i joined Slimming World. It was now or never and I was in the right frame of mind. I had the determination.”
Initially with a Haverhill Slimming World Group for six months, Natalie switched to Clare after her original group closed down and she has never looked back.
Natalie’s weight loss consultant, Sharon Summers, is delighted to see what she and her other members have achieved.
She said: “I’m delighted that our members have lost weight so beautifully.
“It has made a big difference to their lives and to their whole families’ lives, and all of them are happier and healthier now.
“Slimming has never been more important.”
