A new centre manager has started work at a Haverhill leisure centre.

Nigel Snape has started work as the new centre manager at the Abbeycroft Leisure Centre in Ehringshausen Way.

He took up the post on Monday, May 18.

Mr Snape has a background in leisure, as well as with the company, having previously worked in Abbeycroft leisure centres in Brandon and Mildenhall.

“I don’t know Haverhill all that well yet,” said Mr Snape. “It’ll take me a little while to get to know the community and how I can do the best for everyone here.

“In terms of what I want, I would like to take Haverhill leisure centre to the next level, in whatever form that takes.

“There are a lot of challenges ahead, but I’m looking forward to it.”

Commenting on Mr Snape’s joining Haverhil leisure centre, Abbeycroft Leisure chief executive, Warren Smyth, said: “Nigel’s right, there are a lot of challenges ahead, but I think he’s the man for the job.

“Having new staff joining at Haverhill is great, it brings in new ideas and new approaches.

“Nigel has worked with Abbeycroft for some time already. I look forward to working with him in this new role.”

The new centre manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the centre.

He will make sure the facilities and the services the centre provides are properly maintained and administered.
