New retail enterprise is a Home-coming for Lucy
A new lifestyle shop on Linton High Street opens to the public for the first time after a period of refurbishment on Saturday.
Proprietor of 'Home', Lucy Cooper, has 26 years’ retail experience having been one of the youngest people to ever manage a Laura Ashley retail outlet in London’s West End aged just 19.
Lucy, said: "All I want for the business is obviously to earn a living, but also to be part of the community.
"I would like people to feel they can come in for a chat and/or browse.
"I want everyone to feel welcome."
After raising a family, Lucy returned to work as the manageress of a leading lifestyle shop in Chipping Norton, where she worked for three years, and, most recently, at John Lewis, Cambridge, while she began to write her business plan.
Lucy says the shop will be home to an eclectic mix of products for both men and women, with gift orientated stock catering for all budgets, ranging from t-lights at £6.95 to men's shirts at £50.
There will be Home branded products, jewellery, clothing, gifts, cards and wrapping paper.
Lucy ,who grew up in Heydon, near Duxford has always had a strong desire to return 'home' to put into practice what she has learnt throughout her career.
When thinking of what to call the business, not only did she like the word, “Home” it also had so much meaning for her and what it represented to family and friends she questioned in market research.
