The newly refurbished all weather surface at Haverhill Leisure Centre will be officially opened on Saturday.
St Edmundsbury Council funded the new pitch surface and work was completed over the school summer holidays.
The opening will be performed at a special event at which the Haverhill Hockey Club Junior Section will perform drills followed by an adult hockey match at 10.30am.
Nigel Snape, centre manager, said: “We are delighted that we will be officially re-opening the pitch at the centre.
“The pitch is used by sports clubs including Haverhill Hockey Club, who will be playing at the opening, as well as for private hire by our customers and members.”
Cllr Joanna Rayner, St Edmundsbury Council’s cabinet member for leisure and culture said: “This pitch has been very popular over the years and as a result became worn and needed replacing.
“We have invested £170,000 to replace the pitch.
“One of our key aims was to make sure that the work was completed within the school summer holidays so as not to impact on the football and hockey season.
“We achieved that aim and I am delighted to see that it is already being put to good use.”
