Suffolk Young People's Theatre ready for Legally Blonde, The Musical

Suffolk Young People’s Theatre cast members were ‘bending and snapping’ ready for their next stage performance ahead of the musical Legally Blonde opening this week.

The company, which is made up of 29 14-21-year-olds from across the county, has spent 10 days intensively rehearsing the show, before performing sneak peeks of the stage action to shoppers in Bury St Edmunds.

The Theatre Royal curtain went up on the first performance last night, with further shows tonight, tomorrow and Saturday at 7.30pm, as well as a matinée on Saturday at 2.30pm.

On Saturday, the Arc shopping centre hosted cast members as they performed numbers from the show, while onlookers could join in with skipping, dance routines, or have their hair plaited and nails painted.

Legally Blonde The Musical is based on the 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon. It tells the story of fashion marketing student Elle Woods, who heads to Harvard Law after being dumped by her boyfriend. There, she uses her beauty knowledge to win a murder trial, finding love and new friends on the way.
