Police appeal after man approaches Haverhill children

A man who twice approached children on their way to school in Haverhill is being sought by police. Two 12-year-old boys were approached by a man on Tuesday February 21 , between 8.15am and 8.30am in Chalkstone Way.

He had his arms outspread as if he was trying to catch them then asked where the boys were going.

They carried on to school but the man followed them before walking away.

The following day at about 8am in Manor Road, two girls, aged 13, were approached by a man who and asked about their school.

He brushed passed one girl and they continued on their way. He followed them for a while before walking away.

The man involved in the Wednesday incident is white, possibly in his 60s, with a bald head and wearing oval-shaped glasses, a dark coat and brown trousers.

Police say there may be an innocent explanation but they need to trace the man and are urging him, or anyone who knows him to come forward.
