A playgroup in Haverhill has been recognised for its work providing care to children.

Sandcastle Playgroup was featured in a video for the Family and Childcare Trust, showcasing excellent childcare for children with special educational needs and disabilities.

The video is part of a good practice guide for parents -including a section about how to complain and appeal if they are denied access to childcare - and a guide for childcare providers detailing how they can make their services more inclusive for the hundreds of thousands of children with additional needs in England.

Janette Godfrey, manager, Sandcastle Playgroup said: “As childcare professionals we have a legal and moral duty to deliver the very best for each and every child in our care.

“At Sandcastles, we never underestimate the difficult choice parents are making when they leave their child with us. Compassion and empathy to how welcome all our families feel is essential if we truly want to create an inclusive environment and build strong, trusting relationships.

“Once established, the benefit to the child, parent and setting is incredible.”

Stephen Dunmore, chief executive at the Family and Childcare Trust, said: “Sandcastle provides outstanding care to children with additional needs.”
