Power restored to hundreds of properties in Haverhill
Electricity has now been restored to more than 400 customers in Haverhill following a power cut earlier today.
The CB9 0, CB9 8 and CB9 7 postcode areas had all been affected after a lorry brought down a number of overhead cables in Mount Road at about 9.30am.
UK Power Networks said the incident had affected 437 customers in Haverhill as well as villages including Helions Bumpstead, Steeple Bumpstead, Sturmer, Calford Green, Kedington, Little and Great Wratting, Withersfield, Great Thurlow, Little Bradley and Barnardiston.
In a statement issued a few minutes ago, UK Power Networks said: "Our engineers were quickly on site in Mount Road, Haverhill after Suffolk Police reported a lorry had brought down an overhead power cable.
"Initially 437 properties in the area were isolated for safety reasons. The majority of customers had their power restored at 11.20 am.
"Around 20 customers are currently without power while repairs are carried out."
