The public is being warned about buying meat from unreliable sources.

The warnings come as police deal with increasing instances of thefts of quantities of meat from Haverhill supermarkets.

The worry is that the meat, once stolen, is sold on without proper care and attention being paid to the sanitary conditions the products are kept in before re-sale. Anyone who suspects they are being sold stolen meat or who has any information on the thefts should contact Haverhill police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
