Regional triumphs for Haverhill Silver Band

Haverhill Silver Band took top honours in the First Section London and Southern Counties Brass Band Competition held at Stevenage on Sunday (22).

The band, directed by Mark Ager, produced a performance which no other band was able to match.

The band achieved first place, Tim Pannell was named the best cornet player and the basses won the award for their section.

The band now goes to the National Finals in Cheltenham in September and will gain promotion to the very highest division in banding, the Championship section, joining bands such as Grimethorpe, Black Dyke and Brighouse in 2016.
