Thankstoyou event laid on for supports of Clare Castle Country Park

Purchasers of lottery tickets were invited to take part in a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) ‘Thankstoyou’ event run by Trustees of Clare Castle Country Park.

The event was a thank you to lottery ticket buyers for their support that has enabled the £1.5m HLF funding of projects in the Park.

After meeting in the park’s Platform One Café, trustees Geoffrey Bray and Richard Smith along with James Mellish, project manager, gave a broad overview of the project followed by a tour of the park which included an insight into recent archaeology, the moat improvement project, the design of forthcoming activities such as a nature trail, play train and interpretive circular seat at the top of the Medieval motte.

Guests were also given the chance to go inside the Clare Park Centre which is currently being refurbished.

The group were joined by Rachel Steward (the Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager who is a key person in the delivery of the Park’s Activity Plan) who discussed how she was approaching the project and answered questions.

"Feedback from those who took part was so positive," said Mr Bray, chairman of the trustees, "that we would like to arrange further opportunities like this for local people to find out more about what is going on."

These visits are planned for Wednesday, January 16 and Friday, February 1. If you would like to be included, please contact Geoffrey Bray on 01787 277731 or by email: geoffreysbray@gmail.com
