A143 near Haverhill to close this weekend for essential repairs
Motorists heading out of Haverhill on the A143 towards Bury St Edmunds will encounter delays tomorrow and Sunday as the road will be closed while repairs are carried out.
Persimmon Homes is, on behalf of Suffolk Highways, making improvements to the drainage on the stretch of the road adjacent to the new housing that the developer is building on the edge of Haverhill.
The work is being done to prevent a re-occurence of the flooding that has blighted that area for years, but particularly in recent weeks.
The works started as planned on Monday and are currently scheduled to continue until December 19.
To support the work to repair a collapsed culvert, a road closure will be required this weekend.
The road closure will be in place outside the former Fox Public House, from 7am on Saturday.
This will remain in place until the works are completed on Sunday.
The current three-way traffic signals will be removed while the road closure is in operation, however they will be re-installed no later than 7pm on Sunday, November 24.
Please note that the closure points will be manned for the full duration.
For the duration of the closure, traffic will be diverted via A143 Haverhill Road, A143 Stradishall, A143 Bury Road, A143 Horringer Road, A1302 Cullum Road, A134 Sicklesmere road, A134 Sudbury Road, High Street A1092, Windmill Hill, A1092, Lower Road, A1092, Stour Street A1092, Cavendish Road, A1092, Stoke Road A1092, Chapel Street A1092, A1017 Wixoe, A1017 Rowley Hill, A143 Rowley Hill, A143 Sturmer Road, A143 Ehringshausen Way, A143 Lord’s Croft Lane, A143 Wratting Road.
