Police are investigating after a Haverhill doctor was suspended from practice over allegations made by a member of the public.
A spokesman for Suffolk Police said: “Police were contacted on Friday evening, August 14, following an allegation from a member of the public.
“Officers are working alongside the General Medical Council to look into this allegation and enquiries are underway.”
Christine Macleod, Medical Director for NHS England (East) said: “A GP from the local area has been suspended pending further investigations.
“NHS England takes all incidents like this extremely seriously and is committed to providing safe effective primary care for patients.
“Whilst proceedings are ongoing it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
A senior partner at the GP’s surgery said: “During this investigation our ongoing priority is to continue to deliver good patient care.
“It is business as usual for the practice staff and our patients.”
Health officials have not yet named the doctor at the centre of the investigations.
