The Befriending Scheme in Haverhill is looking for volunteers to join its team.

The group provides friendship and learning opportunities to vulnerable people, including adults with learning difficulties and those with mental health issues.

On Wednesday, March 16, the charity is holding a recruitment event at Tesco’s in Haverhill, between 10am and midday, and is asking anyone interested in helping out to come along.

“By volunteering people can make a real difference to someone’s life, providing friendship and companionship to someone who is isolated and lonely,” said Elaine Hewes, from the scheme.

The charity runs a range of activities such as crafts, cooking, music and games, but is open to suggestions from volunteers on expanding interests for those involved.

It offers one to one befriending, allowing volunteers to meet with members who enjoy similar hobbies.
