A recruitment event is taking place to attract more volunteers to The Befriending Scheme’s Haverhill Hub.

The Hub meets at the Chalkstone Community Centre, Strasbourg Square each Friday from 10am to 3pm.

The Befriending Scheme provides friendship and learning for adults from vulnerable groups, including those with mental health needs, older people and learning disabilities.

It offers activities such as crafts, cooking, music and games. If anyone has an interest or hobby they would like to share it can be incorporated it into its programme.

The charity also offers one to one befriending, giving volunteers an opportunity to meet with members who have similar interests and hobbies and enjoy spending time together.

Volunteers can provide friendship and companionship to someone who is isolated and lonely. Reasonable expenses are paid and full support given.

The recruitment event takes place at Haverhill Library on Thursday, March 19 between 11am and 2pm.

If you are interested but cannot make the event call Elaine Hewes 07757082310 or visit www.thebefriendingscheme.org.uk.
