A charity walk to raise money for a trust set up in memory of a 13-year-old boy who died of a brain tumour has raised £2,804.

The walk in August raised the money for the Smile of Arran Trust, set up in the wake of the tragic death of Arran Tosh in June 2014.

Arran lived in Sudbury but was also a popular member of the Haverhill amateur dramatic group, The Centre Stage Company.

The chairman of the Trust, Alison Tosh, thanked her fellow walkers and everyone who helped raise the money, before adding: “We were hoping to get to £1,000 so we are so overwhelmed with this amount.

“We had lots of laughs and supported each other throughout the week. Lamlash Golf Club raised over £300 while we were there.”

Fat Face in Sudbury has also been raising money for the Trust during its Black Friday weekend.

Sainsbury’s Haverhill store has selected the Smile of Arran Trust as its charity of the year and will be supporting it for three weekends leading up to Christmas.

On Saturday, November 28 Alison’s friend Nina Morgan sold some Smile of Arran goodies, then on December 11, 12 and 13 the store is having a charity weekend.

On December 19 and 20 some of Arran’s friends will be doing bag packing and fund-raising at the store.
