Pranksters have been warned of the dangers of messing around with air bags after a Haverhill thrill seeker damaged his spine in a home-made ejector seat stunt.

Hari Farlie, 19, fractured his spine in two places after the stunt, which was videoed by his friends, went wrong.

The teenager was taken to West Suffolk Hospital, where he was kept overnight.

A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We strongly warn against messing around with explosives such as the ones that are present in unreleased air bags.

“We regularly work around these contraptions when responding to road collisions; these can be dangerous if tampered with and can cause serious injury when misused.”
