MP Matthew Hancock has welcomed the news of three local football teams being given ‘Grow the Game’ grants by the Football Foundation.
Gary Rampley, Chairman of Brandon Town Youth FC, said their £6,000 grant would be used to develop two under-10 girls’ teams and an under-15 boys’ team.
He said the money would ‘cement the link between child and adult football at the club,’ as it is invested in funding new coaches and training volunteers.
Peter Betts, Football Development Officer at Haverhill Rovers FC, said their grant of £3,000 was being used to restart their new adult community team, promoting ‘football for all’ and ensuring that older players have support in place ahead of the new season.
Brian Hensby, Secretary of Mildenhall Town FC, said their grant of £1,500 would be used to introduce a new under-21s team at the club.
West Suffolk MP Matthew Hancock said: “It is right that these excellent local football clubs have been recognised for their contributions to community sport. I have no doubt that these grants will help them go from strength to strength and I wish all the teams the best of luck in the new season.”
