A successful casino night was held at Bar Vu in Haverhill recently to raise £638 for the for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Around 50 people tried their luck at the roulette and black jack tables and enjoyed a magician performing .

There were also stalls including Body Shop at Home, gel nails, cupcakes and homeware by a local business and a charity auction.

The event was organised by Laura Jade .

Laura is raising money towards her £1000 target that she needs to enter the Thames Valley Path Challenge of a 25 Km walk along the Thames in Surrey on September 13.

Laura chose the charity Cystic Fibrosis Trust as she came across a family who have this life shortening condition and it made her realise how devastating it is.

She said: “I’ve been astounded and shocked by the amount of people who didn’t know what cystic fibrosis was before I started my fundraising.

“ Raising awareness for the condition has become important to me following a devastating 20 minute phone call at my previous employment from a family of four where three of them suffered with the condition.

“After taking 70 calls a day for two years it was the only call that has stuck with me to this day.”

Money raised will enable the Cystic Fibrosis Trust to invest in cutting-edge research to develop better treatments and, ultimately find a cure.

It will also provide support to those with cystic fibrosis and their families and help the trust to drive up standards in medical care.
