Building work began on Monday (March 16) on a new nursery in Haverhill.

The new Montessori nursery is being built in Haverhill Research Park and will offer part time care for up to 78 three to five month old children.

The building work is currently on schedule and it is hoped the nursery will be open to take in children in September.

“There’s not much to see at the moment,” said Helen Chaplin of Haverhill Research Park. “Just some diggers scratching around.

“We think it’ll be really nice to have it there. It will attract other businesses to come to the park and provide another service.

“We’re really excited that the work is getting under way. We’ll also have 150 home on site, half of which are already sold.

The single-storey building, designed by Frank Shaw Architects, will be built on the west side of the main estate road, Three Counties Way, close to the entrance to the park. There will be an external play area and drop-off zone with car parking for 16 cars.
