Haverhill Running Club’s Andrew Bell marked his debut at half marathon distance a superb third place in the tough Ipswich course from a class field, stopping the clock at one hour 18 minutes and eight seconds.

Still continuing her fabulous year, and in only her third half herself, Sian-Marie Lucas managed third place in the overall ladies’ category, smashing her personal best in a time of 1.32.00 dead.

The race also doubled up as a Suffolk Grand Prix event, which Haverhill currently sit top of with all members putting in positive runs.

Cheryl Tundle picked up a trophy for the first female veteran 60 home in the Grunty Fen Half Marathon at Ely with a time of one hour, 43 minutes and 41 seconds, giving her 152nd place overall.

Other Haverhill runners were Rachel Darville (164th 1.44.51), Shirley Fowler (307th 2.01.50), Dave Greenham (370th 2.14.32) and Michelle Gardner (376th 2.17.00).

Also having a storming half marathon recently was club captain Siobhan Dockerill, who travelled down to the West Country to tackle the Bristol half marathon, smashing her personal best by clocking 1.33.17, showing her current training is going in the right direction.
