BREAKING NEWS: Ex-Haverhill Rovers manager Michael Shinn takes over at West Wratting
Former Haverhill Rovers manager Michael Shinn has been appointed as the new first team manager of Kershaw Premier League side West Wratting.
Shinn replaces Rod Gaffan, who along with his assistant Roger Dourado, took over at Bull Lane last summer and led the team to a creditable fifth-place finish in his first season.
Having been sacked by Haverhill Rovers in February, Shinn joined the Wratts as a player towards the end of their campaign, making four appearances, three of them starts.
Michael Bavester and Barry Duffy, who were part of Shinn’s coaching team at Haverhill Rovers, have again linked up with him at Wratting.
A statement issued today (Wednesday) on West Wratting’s website says: “Following a Committee Meeting at West Wratting Football Club last night we officially approached Michael Shinn to become the first team manager with immediate effect and we are very pleased to announce that Michael has accepted.
“We are also pleased to announce that both Michael Bavester and Barry Duffy will be also joining us and we warmly welcome them both back to the club.
“Rod Gaffan was asked to become General Manager of West Wratting FC which he has respectfully declined.
“We are still hopeful of retaining Roger Dourado both as a player and member of the coaching team and hope to make an announcement very shortly.
“The committee would like to place on record their thanks and appreciation for all the dedication and hard work that Rod has put in on behalf of West Wratting FC and wish him all the very best for the future.
“The committee are looking forward to the new season and understand that we have a very strong management team in place and the current crop of talent we have at the club can only benefit with what Michael Shinn and his team can help them achieve in the future.”
